Partly inspired by a dream in which I was watching ants trailing to and from a strange type of fruit. The ants were walking in a pattern that looked like the one found in a magnetic field or the pattern in sunflower heads. I was told that if they kept moving in that specific pattern and at a specific speed their movements would create a vibrational frequency that would cause everything - ants and fruit - to explode.
I'm interested in knowing how people interpret this.

First of all, this is a very beautiful picture! Second of all, the pattern you describe is a mandala, which is (as I'm sure you're aware) a precise mathematical equation. It's quite possible that in the context of the dream, the pattern, speed and mass of the ant were causing energy to concentrate and or/flow a certain way, which is how an other explosion would happen. Just remember. You can make anything out of anything else, as long as you know the proportions. Whether or not you were given literal data in your dream is impossible to prove (unless you've got that fruit and some obedient ants) but I think the principle is about energy primarily.

Your work would make a really awesome stained glass window.

Spontaneous interpretation: we are the ants, the strange fruit is our lifestyle. Our determined artificial rhythm, always repeating. The explosions have already begun.
Of course this has not very much to do with the painting - but I think you might have created it as the counterpart, to get things back into balance.

the link is about a film (Koyaanisquatsi, maybe you know it), dealing with this topic, life out of balance - there are many scenes where masses of people are shown (for example moving around a subway station) reminding of ants in an antpile.....

I love this interpretation, sorry it took me so long to respond. You've pretty much hit the nail on the head when it comes to how I personally feel about it. I had a different dream before the one that had inspired this painting, in which people from all over the world were using that pattern to bring the world to a higher level of consciousness. I've always felt that the two dreams where basically different visions of the same thing.

Thanks for the link also. I've only seen the beginning of the film but I definitely want to finish it sometime.

I see a connection with all areas in this piece. Each living organism needs one another to thrive. Not only are the ants working collectively but also the butterfly is drawn to the same area as well. I think this is a perfect title for this piece. Very nice

I just read your artist's comment:
I don't feel any sensation thatthings are going to explode, it speaks to me only of vibes in psych with each other, of the perfects bird's eye view of the balance and structure of nature. That is The structure in nature may not always appear so, but it supports or becomes balance. Here it is completely apparent! the structure of the painting supports the balance of it ... and therefore perfectly reflects the nature of the universe, all while showing you what really represents a microcosm of the universe. In that sense, it is a reflection of the nature of the universe, the nature of the earth and the nature of matter.

I'm glad you used the word "microcosm". That is my favorite word and usually I try to depict a tiny piece of nature as a representation of some larger concept. Thanks so much for your insight.

Synergy is absolutely the right name for this!
The whole flows so well, but in and out of itself!
it's like "pretzel logic"
It flows and curves and the colours only add to that, because they flow so well, yet are distinct and have the contrast to move the eye around
Yet one feels like you've got to keep looking and you get the feeling that you could get lost in it .... maybe get lost in another world ... I guess your world,
your vision world.

I interpret it as being a clever means of dispersing both seeds and ants. Even in dreams, nature finds a way.
